River cruise កម្សាន្តទន្លេ
Sambor Village runs river cruises that can take a couple of hours or a whole day, depending on what you fancy, and the evening sunset cruise is a lovely way to get a glimpse of village life along the Sen, which is the second most populated part of Kompong Thom province, aside from that other main artery, National Route 6 – take our word for it, the river is infinitely more peaceful.
The one-day tours take in Phnom Santuk, the silk farm and a rather unusual pagoda named Trey Leak that has been designed in the shape of a boat — we tried to find the latter under our own steam, but got hopelessly lost.
Boat trips can be booked through Sambor Village, and the boats leave from just in front of the hotel. The sunset one-hour cruise costs $10, while a six-hour trip taking in Trey Leak Pagoda -- that is built in the shape of a boat -- Phnom Santuk and Santuk Silk Farm, costs $30. The prices includes water, but not snacks or beers, though you are, of course, free to bring these along with you.
